Barbados has long been one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Caribbean, offering tourists the opportunity to soak up the sun on an island that is regarded as one of the most modern in the region.  Having been colonized by the British several hundred years ago, Barbados has long been an English speaking nation, and is proud of it's status as one of the most developed islands in the region.  There are plenty of things to see and do on Barbados, ranging from scuba diving and sailing on the crystal blue waters that surround the island, to visiting the many religious buildings that dot the landscape including Sharon Moravian Church, Clifton Hill Moravian Church, Saint John Parish Church, and the Bridgetown Synagogue and Cemetery.  The Harrison limestone Cave, Barbados Wildlife Reserve and Flower Forest, and St. Lawrence Gap are also popular.

Barbados is serviced by the Grantley Adams International Airport which is located at the southern tip of the island, approximately sixteen kilometres east of Bridgetown.  Due to the significant rise in tourist numbers in recent years the airport is in the middle of a large expansion project, including the construction of a new terminal.  Airlines that fly into the airport include BMI, British Airways, First Choice Airways, Monarch Airlines, Thomsonfly, Thomas Cook Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and XL Airways.  Car rental is recommended to maximize the enjoyment of your stay; Courtesy Car Rentals operate a desk within the arrivals terminal of the airport, with the other major car rental companies having offices off site.  If pre-booked, they will arrange to drop the car to the airport for your collection upon arrival.
